Our Team

Melissa’s passion is to help make a difference in the lives of people she supports and to help people learn better ways to overcome the challenges they face – stress, mental health issues, substance use/abuse challenges, and/or other struggles.  Melissa is dedicated, compassionate, empathetic, and has been committed to serving people and families throughout the region since 2001 (even before she moved to New Bern, NC).  She has dedicated her life to helping and serving others.  Helping people is in her blood… it’s who she is and it’s what she does.  

Melissa has a strong faith and is creative, fun loving, and genuinely has a heart for people.  She loves spending time outside in nature. 

Melissa wears many hats.  In addition to all that she does with Creekside Recreational Therapy & Wellness (Creekside RTW), she works as a Recreational Therapist on the mental health unit at our local hospital, she also runs a small business called, Blessed Serendipity, where she sells essential oils, diffuser jewelry, homemade soap, wool dryer balls, and other products for healthy living.  20% of each sale goes to help fund Creekside RTW.  She is also blessed to be a wife, a mother to two creative teenage daughters, and a mom to a 4-legged furry baby.
